FEATURED PROJECT

Moe Hansen shows his latest project, a chest of drawers featuring cherry as the primary wood, and soft maple as the secondary wood. The finish is a water based dye followed by two coats of sanding sealer(shellac).   Then several coats of General Finishes water based poly and a coat of handed rubbed wax on the top.

WHAT IS THE WOODWORKERS ASSOCIATION OF ARKANSAS? The Woodworkers Association of Arkansas (WAA) is an informal gathering of hobbyists (and some professionals) with a common interest: Making and using objects from wood, and sharing their expertise with each other. Meetings of WAA are normally at 7:00 PM on the first Tuesday of each month. The normal meeting place is in the Furniture Design Studios of the UALR Applied Arts Department, located in the UP Campus at Asher Ave. and University Ave., in Little Rock. Programs are normally a “show ‘n tell” session where members show off their latest creations and discuss techniques, followed by an educational program on a woodworking topic, either by a guest presenter, or often by one of WAA’s own talented members.
